TRBTS

I just want to thank you for all your nurturing, inspiration and care, not just for our [young person] but for a truly inspirational example of what I understand theatre to be. You have helped to give all these wonderful young people a purpose and sense of true belonging to a safe, inspirational and vibrant community who’s purpose it seems is to seek out , be curious, inspire and tell great stories as clearly and truthfully as they can. What a wonderful gift.” – Parent of Theatre School member

Theatre Royal Bath Theatre School is The Egg Assembly’s in-person sister training program!

Housed in The Egg Theatre, a purpose-built theatre dedicated to theatre made for and with young people, TRBTS offers specialised training and professional insight into the world of theatre, both on and off stage.

We run weekly sessions for young people aged 5-25; offering skills workshops in a variety of theatre disciplines and creative arts. Our youngest members engage with the arts through creative play; ensuring a safe and fun environment for them to explore, while sowing the seeds of skills they will develop as they continue their journey with us. At the other end of the spectrum, our oldest members form and develop their own theatre company while we mentor them, entering the professional world of theatre with confidence in themselves and their practice. Throughout we promote an ethos of respect, daring, and self-identity, fostering a sense of community and strong roots to support growing creativity.

All public productions produced by TRBTS are supported by industry professional production and creative teams, including: costume and set designers, sound designers, composers, stage management and lighting designers. Wherever possible, these industry professionals are assisted by our own TRBTS Backstage Students, taking on show roles to put into practice their learning from their own dedicated weekly curriculum.

So, whether you are a budding lighting designer, actor or just wanting to explore your creativity with like-minded people, come and be a part of it!

TRBTS costs £130 per 10-week term for Saturday sessions and £150 per 10-week term for weekday groups (ages 8+). We believe that finances should not impact a young person’s ability to access the arts. Therefore, we offer bursaries for those who require financial support. Should you want to explore your options with bursaries, please contact Egg Reception to reserve your place and request further information.

There are no auditions or interviews to join. We offer places on a first-come-first-served basis as part of our inclusivity ethos. Our next enrolment period will be for our Autumn Term (September 2022) which will run w/c 12th September-w/c 21st November.

If you just can’t wait until September, you could also check out our Summer program – from Theatre Experience Residency (ages 15-21 years), to week long Summer Schools (ages 7-9 years and 10-12 years), and our flagship Summer Company production of Blood Wedding (ages 13-21 years), there’s a lot going on! Full information can be found on the Theatre Royal Bath website, or just drop us a line.

Our members take part in up to three productions a year – why not check out our past productions to get a taste of what we get up to?

I must say that I think you are all fantastic, and I do think that the whole experience with Theatre School has been wonderful for [my young person]. They feel safe and respected within the group, and most importantly, accepted.” –  Parent of Theatre School member
