I Wish I Was a Mountain: Live Stream & Post-show Event

We are extremely excited to announce a special one one-off Live Streamed Performance of the brilliant IPAY Victor Award-winning I WISH I WAS A MOUNTAIN on Mon 15 Feb at 5pm, written and performed by Egg Theatre Associate Artist, Toby Thompson. The performance will be followed by a free post-show event for anyone with an interest in performing, poetry, writing and more.

TO BOOK ON TO EITHER EVENT:

Click here to be taken to the Theatre Royal Bath website and booking page.

Here’s a little about the show:

On the day of the famous annual fair, the town of Faldum receives an unexpected visit. A wanderer offers to grant a wish to anyone who wants one. Before long, the city is transformed. Mansions stand where mud huts once squatted, and beggars ride around in horse-drawn carriages. And one man wishes to be turned into a mountain.

Written and performed by former Glastonbury Poetry Slam Champion Toby Thompson, I Wish I was a Mountain uses rhyme, live music, and just a smattering of metaphysical philosophy to boldly reimagine Herman Hesse’s classic fairytale. Do we really need the things that we need? What do mountains feel? How did time begin? Adults are kindly requested to leave all answers to these questions at the door. Children, come as you are.

Free post-show event:

Following the live streamed performance of I Wish I Was a Mountain, in a special one-off event, join creator/performer, Toby Thompson, to discover how he approaches his work and how his globally-loved, award-winning show came to be.

Whether you’re a student, poet, performer or just curious, let Toby share his thoroughly unique insights on poetry and theatre whilst offering some priceless words of advice and encouragement for anyone seeking to follow in his footsteps.

The post-show event will take place via Zoom (link/log in details supplied when you register for a free ticket) and you will be able to submit questions during the session.

To book on to the Live Stream and the free post-show event, please visit the Theatre Royal Bath website.
