Michelle McMahon
Michelle is an Irish actor, writer and director. She is currently writing and developing a new play, investigating our relationship with acute anxiety in 21st century life, and how it feels to be trapped by it. Inspired by her practice in qualitative research (exploring what drives human thought and behaviour), she’s particularly interested in the story of how our minds work. Michelle loves working collaboratively with a broad range of practitioners (from psychologists and scientists to composers, technologists and game designers) to build worlds that are exciting and challenging to play in. She is an associate artist with interactive theatre-makers Coney, and Punchdrunk recently collaborated with her on Audiences of the Future. Theatre includes: Co-Writer & Co-Director of HOW WE SAVE THE WORLD (Coney/The Natural History Museum/National Environmental Research Council); Dramaturg/Director of THE MOON UNDER WATER (Creative Arts East/ Applause Rural Touring/National Centre for Writing); Co-Director & Maker of YOUR CONNECTION IS NOT PRIVATE (Coney/Free Word Centre/Camden People’s Theatre); Writer & Director of NIGHTMARE PLANTS (Bram Stoker Festival/National Botanic Gardens of Ireland).

This summer, at the Egg Assembly, we will be launching our biggest and most ambitious project to date: an online, interactive, environmental crime thriller…

With you at the heart.

The creation of the project begins in earnest with this series of workshops led by actor/writer/director, Michelle McMahon (Coney, Punchdrunk – see bio below), which aim to develop your writing and making, whilst encouraging you to play with new ways of telling stories and making work for live audiences.

Over eight weeks, you’ll work as a team to explore different storytelling methods and mediums, whilst imagining the playful, challenging and pulse-quickening experiences that will ignite an audience’s imagination!

This series of workshops are provided with automated closed captions and can be provided as text/audio/visual recordings to Assemblers after the session.
